The Author
BIO: Erie, PA native Patty ‘PK’ Merski began writing jingles, stories and rhymes at a very young age, just for fun. She holds a BS in Management Information Systems and worked on innovative projects in health care for many years. Then she became a stay-at-home mom, raised three children, and started a publishing company, with the creation of a single title, Roaring, Boring Alice (A Story of the Aurora Borealis). She wrote Mother Beach many years ago to honor memories of summers spent with siblings and cousins on Lake Erie Beaches and at Grandma’s cottage, the setting for Mother Beach and where her love for hunting beach glass began. Patty and her husband, Ron live along the shores of Lake Erie and enjoy traveling, while she continues to create and write…usually in rhyme!
The Artist

I’ve been called an artist many times although by definition, I’m not sure I really qualify—I don’t draw, paint, sculpt or perform. But I am passionate about creating… I love it! I love to set an intimate dinner table with vintage pink depression glass dishes that I’ve collected through the years; I love writing a little poem or jingle for a friend’s special occasion—and I dearly love spending time creating unique jewelry at my bead table, where one will find ‘enough beads to fill a swimming pool’. Simply put, I create in attempt to share my experiences and inspirations. My second book Mother Beach (The Joy of Finding Beach Glass) invites readers to walk the shoreline and reflect on life’s treasures, represented by colorful pieces of beach glass. My unique, hand-made rosary bracelets and mankind necklaces are created to inspire prayer, gratitude, acceptance and tolerance. Does this make me an artist? I’m not certain but for now, I shall continue to feed my passion and keep on creating!
